To be completely honest and upfront, I can promise you that you will receive the best product if you are enjoying yourself and having a good time. Seriously! The best way to merit success during a photoshoot is to enjoy yourself. Through this, we will both have a good time and the photoshoot is granted a beautiful return.
What do I wear to my engagement/senior session?
If you are frantically wondering and completely unsure of what to wear during a photoshoot, the best advice I can give you is to be yourself. If you are comfortable with your clothing and with yourself, you will be happier and the photos will return a beautiful success.
I understand that most of you are more comfortable with basketball shorts, PJ's, or your hair up in a messy ponytail. But I do suggest that you put forth some effort. Remember, if you feel uncomfortable, you probably look uncomfortable. If you feel grungy, you probably look grungy. If you feel fabulous, heck, you most likely look fabulous. ;)
Most of all. Be comfortable in what you wear. Love what you are putting on. My goal is to portray your attitude and personality, not a fashion sense.
Plan a few outfits. 2-3 is a good amount of outfits to bring to the site. If you're totally confused, I'll do my best to pick out what would be most flattering and photog
enic.
Suggestions:
Embrace:
- Earth tones
- Beautiful colors/jewelry
- Jeans
- Stylish dresses
- Solid, bold colors
- Accessories
- Your personality!
Avoid:
- Constraining, uncomfortable
- Neon colors
- Matching outfits (compliment, not clash)
- Large, distracting logos
- Text on clothing
- Ill-fitting clothing
- Athletic Shoes
- Over-the-top make-up
Personality:
- Pets
- Bring a blanket if we're shooting outside
- "Thank you" signs or "save-the-date" cards to tell your friends
- Bikes, coffee mugs, books - any props that you think reflect your personality and interests
But, hey, I'm not your mom or your boss. These are simply suggestions, hoping to help my clients when they may feel at a loss or confused by their outfit. If you feel that I'm completely wrong, then show up with whatever you'd like. I know we'll have fun anyway.
